The Elizabeth Landmark celebrates the Queen’s Green Canopy
In celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary reign and her enduring commitment to the environment, The Ray Estate has joined the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. The Elizabeth Landmark sculpture will be located within the grounds of The Ray Estate on Cold Law.
As part of this UK-wide project to plant trees in honour of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, The Ray Estate established a two-acre wood, in which over 1,000 trees were planted, featuring three ‘Green Canopy’ circles dedicated to King Charles III. These circles comprise over 140 majestic Sequoias and native Aspen trees, carefully positioned to align with the Winter Solstice Sun, through which the sun rises on December 21st each year.
This unique addition not only honours Queen Elizabeth’s legacy but also reflects King Charles III's forward-thinking environmental vision. By planting trees that will thrive for generations, The Ray Estate leaves a lasting legacy, fostering biodiversity and supporting the local ecosystem.
The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative encourages people to "Plant a Tree for the Jubilee," creating sustainable green spaces nationwide. Through this two-acre wood, The Ray Estate ensures that both the legacies of Queen Elizabeth and King Charles are celebrated in harmony with nature.
